Youthful Skin Co began in 2023, because I didn't have time for skincare.
I was 34, working as an emergency nurse, with four kids. Between shift work and school runs, the idea of a morning and evening routine was laughable. What I wanted was one thing I could change that didn't cost me any time at all.
A pillowcase seemed like the obvious candidate. You use it every night without thinking about it. If the surface you spend eight hours against is going to be there anyway, it may as well be the right one.
What we found
The silk pillowcase category is full of promises. Clearer skin in 30 days. Wrinkle prevention. Bacteria counts. We know, because we made some of them ourselves when we started out.
The more we looked into it, the less comfortable we were. Most of those claims rest on nothing you could show a customer, and some of them belong to whoever paid for the lab test rather than to the brand quoting them.
